Love others as you love yourself. I believe Jesus said something like that in another language, over 2000 years ago. A lot has changed since then but the message still remains. Now, if we could only love ourselves as others love us. I know I am loved by my family and even though sometimes I don't deserve it, they love me still. Our family sees in us the beauty and the goodness. That is the power of love.

When I think of Gordon now, for some reason, I keep thinking about the letter he wrote from Saudi about his driver that would pick him up from the airport. He shared how he and this man had struck up a fast friendship. They told each other about their families and their lives, their hopes and dreams. And when I think of Gordon in a taxi in another country making friends with a man who he has nothing and everything in common with it brings me comfort. What an adventure he had! New sights, new sounds, new friendships. I bet you talking with Gordon that man felt the kind of uplifting feeling we all had when we spent time with him, talking. When you had his attention and he was focused on you it made you feel special and important. He was a good listener and was sympathetic to all of our ordeals.

It seemed to be that one of Gordon's jobs while he was on this earth was to encourage. And what a beautiful gift that is. But in order for your encouragement to be heard one must be respected. Gordon was wise and his encouragement came from a place of love. So, we all must make sure to keep encouraging one another!

Life is still good, but it sure can be hard. Saying goodbye is never easy and living is a process. We grow into the knowledge of ourselves and our own paths. We lost someone we love, we lost someone who loved us. THAT MAKES ME SAD! But, when we open our hearts to love we can also experience loss and when I count my blessings I can see I have no reason to really be sad. When I look at the big picture I can see that this is a natural part of life, saying goodbye to loved ones, yet it's hard for me because eventhough my faith in God is strong I sometimes just don't understand. I don't understand Gods timing, but I don't have to. We all still have a lot of living left to do.

If I could have said goodbye it would not have been profound, maybe something like, I love you, I'll miss you, thank you for the love you've given.

The pain of loss is great but the joy of love is immeasurable. That is how we keep on going. I wonder what kind of stuff you will do in heaven? I bet you will be a leader and a teacher there as you were on earth. I know you are with God now, so I do not worry. He gives and he takes and I'll make peace with your passing eventually I suppose. But until then I will just keep on wondering why. When we suffer through a hardship such as this God always remains steadfast. I take much comfort in Gods faithfulness.

I've had crazy Katie Perry's Firework song stuck in my head all day and I have to say it does lift my spirits a little. My goodness what a genuine outpouring of love we witnessed last week. We reap what we sow and the support shown to Cathy and Hunter and Logann was a bountiful return. A firework is an awesome display of energy and power that is beautiful and impressive, awe inspiring and colorful. They are meant for special occasions and mark a celebration. You lived your life with flair, Gordon, and I can easily imagine God saying to you, "Well done my good and faithful servant. " You came to earth, you gave of yourself, you gave your heart and you gave your all. And the ones you leave behind still stand with our faces tilted upward with looks of delight at the beautiful and lasting impression you made on all of our hearts.

Oh gosh, it just is so chock full of goodness it's hard to know where to start. The photo is called Ashley Tinsdale. So that must be the girl on the left. Right? Anyway, we have studded high heeled clogs, a fringed purse, an arm band and torquoise rings on every finger. Was Ashley on the OC or something? Her friend is cute. Anyway this was in a catalog of celebs at airports on People. WAIT! Those are open toed clogs. I heard shorter tops were making a comeback. Because high waisted pants are supposedly in the future as well. Kayla is at LAX right now headed to Laguna Beach. Maybe she can give us a Style watch report from the frontlines.

I know many years ago I made Lo and Stevie promise me that I would not be stuck with an awful, unstylish diaper bag when I had a baby. I think I even talked them into making sure I got a Juicy Couture or Coach bag or something ridiculous! Aren't they the best? Anyway, I think I have found a slightly cheaper (although still not cheap) and extremely cute new favorite (See the pic above). They have these Petunia Picklebottom bags at Pottery barn Kids and I just love them. I love the gray one and it can be worn as a messenger or a backpack. I actually saw a mom wearing one the other day! So cute! There really are so many options these days and it hard just to pick one of anything, but I really cannot wait to get shopping!

I am pretty sure that Lila has been traumatized for life. A couple of weeks ago, I put a big, heavy quilt in the washer to clean it. It had been raining and Lila was wet so I had her in the gated off area next to the laundry room and pantry to dry off a little. Of course, the blanket got stuck all on one side and it made the washer go haywire. Not just spinning out of balance, but it was so loud I literally thought we were getting bombed. When I jumped up off the couch and ran to laundry room I see the washer about a foot away from it's usual place it is practically jumping up and down. I fling the gate open and run over and press the stop button on the washer, before it made it any further.

Phew, my heart was pounding from all the adrenaline and honestly I didn't really even notice that when I flung the gate open Lila darted to the other end of the house, our bedroom. Once I readjusted the blanket and got the washer started again I turn around to see that Lila was so scared she literally crapped herself (excuse me). Poor thing didn't even ever poop in the house as a puppy! So I clean up the mess and went to search for Lila and found her in Maverick's cage (her favorite place). It took a lot of enticing to get her out, but once I did she was shaky and a frantic mess.

I let her out to make sure she didn't have any more business to take care of and she shot out the door and ran under the porch. I didn't even try and get her out, and she eventually emerged about 20 minutes later after going to the door and checking on her a few times. Needless to say since then she no longer follows me into the laundry room when I am do laundry and definitely no longer sits there and watches me fold. She will either stay in the bedroom or go and get in Maverick's cage until I leave the laundry room. Poor thing. She has been really skiddish since then too, any loud noises and she's up and barking, which is unusual for her. Maybe she needs therapy? Hopefully she will one day get over it, as well as the barking. Oh well.

Or saying the words you are reading? Like lets say i get a text from Jamie and it says soemthing really funny like "Lets go see the Justin Beiber movie!?!?!!!!!!!" i then imagine her saying it with her eyes all chinese like and her voice all high pitched. Or like today at lunch John was telling us about a conversation he had with someone who i know and then i imagined them auctually having the conversation and it made me want to giggle. anyway, idk sometimes it just makes me smile.

So I know that in fashion everything eventually comes back around, but I thought it was usually after a couple of decades. Recently at the Gap I noticed they were selling "vintage flare" jeans. Bell bottoms back in? I couldn't believe it. I hadn't seen them anywhere else until today when I was browsing popsugar, and I saw one of my fashion icons, Heidi Klum sporting some big ole bell bottoms. I looooved my huge bell bottoms in high school but cautious to jump back on the bandwagon right away. Has anyone else spotted this trend? Please say yes! I love my skinny jeans, but I feel like bell bottoms are much more flattering. Plus if the bell is big enough they keep your feet warm too! Like a foot snuggie.

Hi dolls! I just got home from a great night spent with family! We went to see "Just Go With It" with Jennifer Aniston and Adam Sandler. Sometimes adam's movie are either hit or miss but this one was a hit. His humor wasn't forced and Jen was just so stunning. Their chemistry together was great too! So I would recommend it. Plus most of it is shot in Hawaii which makes me want to go so bad and sip on some Mai-tai's! I will post the rest of the deets later, for now I need my beauty rest.

Reba came out on stage looking so cute! SHe is sort of built like KiKi. petite but strong too. Her red hair color is gorgeous. Looks SO GOOD on stage! She had on a scoop neck cap sleeve long tight t-shirt with sequins. I think she is 55. I think she's had botox but it wasn't too scary looking. Her hair and make up were nothing really over the top. Tasteful and pretty. She had on black leggins and over the knee black boots that were flat. She had on a black two inch wide band sparkly beaded bracelet. And a whole bucnch of differnt length silver necklace. two of them were crosses, one celtic. She was very down to earth. Her voice is great her accent as thick as molassas in January.I was still experiencing consternation over the sound quality which was as clear as mud. Her hair was the color of a new penny shining in the sun. Each song was presented as a story that evoked emotion as only master performers are wont to do. The minute she hit the stage she was ON and looked so happy to be there. Her voice was in great shape and she knows what she's doing. She is adorable. She sang a song about her Dad that was beautiful called the greatest man I ever knew. She sang If I were a boy. She sang Fancy, She sang Turn up the radio, For Fancy ashe came out in an old taxi cab and in that pretty red sparkly dress. My favorite was a song about COWBOYS where she showd pics of Cowboys on the big screen while she sang. Clint, John Wayne, robert Redford, Kevin Costner, Paul Newman, and yes George Strait. Speaking of him. Man ALIVE that man well, he's hard to describe. He just oozes with charm and class. HIS FANS are the best. His songs pierce strait into your heart like an arrow. He is impeccable and extraordinary. I love him. And ohh that smile! He sang Amarillo by Morning, Cheyenne, THE FIREMAN! And Johnny Cash's Fulsom Prison Blues. The Ace in the Hole Band is incredible. I think George is like 58. I thought he handled the square stage the best doing a song on each corner and then moving on.Not moving around the whole time. His last song was This is where the Cowboy rides away. Yea, I KNOW RIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Well, I think I have to go now,I hope you enjoyed my re cap. If I left anything out you let me know. Oh yeah, George had on a starched shirt, cowboy hat and boots and well, a pair of.... WRANGLER jeans. mmmmm h,mmmmm. that's right. Like we say on the ranch....If it ain't broke....don't fix it.

Last Night

Well, last night was awesome. We went and saw George, Reba and Leann Womack . LeAnn began the show. Her voice is incredible. The sound in the arena was less than desirable. She sang I hope you dance and it was beautiful. She looks a lot like Tammy Wynette and I never noticed that before. She is not really an amazing live performer other thna that amazng voice of hers. But I will cut her slack because that 4 sided stage is a trick to work. I could talk for a long time about her hair and her outfit but I'm not going to....I'm not. Well, she looked like they woke her up like in all the country music movies.Wake up it's time to go out on stage! ANYWAY! She's cute, talented and wonderful and I love her. Maybe she was mad about the bad sound quality in which case I am on her side. But I don't know what that has to do with her neglecting to brush her hair. Or wash it or touch up the color in the past three months......And she needs a stylist. If you were opening for Reba and George would you wear what you might wear to lets say the mall? Nooooooooooooo. You would not. Okay, lets move on shall we? Wait, she did have ginormica false eyelashes on. And I'm almost POSITIVE she had extensions. Her head was bigger than my house right in front of my face on that big screen. Can you imagine? She is 44. Let me say again that her voice is absolutely amazing and well, that's the thing.What a voice!
Okay! I want to say that this 4 sided stage is hard to get used to. I like the old fashioned way, but, anyway. They should put the stage on a turntable, that's what I think. Or just put it down at the end of the hall like they usta. I think the band plays better together when they are all facing one direction. When the bass player has his back to you and the singer is over your shoulder doesn't it get confusing? Okay, here comes Reba.

Valentine's Day

Hi Friends! I have to work this weekend, but my co-worker Emily and I decided it would be fun to make little Valentines for our babies. I am so excited! I bought a bunch of stuff today and couldn't resist throwing a few together!! I also made my current little boyfriend some winnie the pooh stuff because that is how is room is decorated at home. So cute. Anyway here is what I have been working on. I can't wait. We will have a photoshoot and print some pictures while we are there and put them in the cards and I think I will put their little foot prints in there too because really, is there anything more precious?? Wish you guys could have as much fun as me at work!! Love ya!

Hello All,

This morning Kelsey met with the Radiologist to go over his MRI results from yesterday, and it is with great joy (and relief!) that I tell you that the MRI was "all clear" of the brain tumor in this latest image that was taken. Such fantastic news!

He will continue on the treatment plan he is on for quite awhile (many more months), and will go back in for another MRI in two months. Also, his infection from a couple weeks ago is doing much better, and it doesn't look like any surgery will be needed to go in there to fix that problem. More good news!

THIS is from an email I received today from a friend of the Stewarts. WHAT WONDERFUL NEWS! So amazing! THANK YOU everyone for continuing to pray for Kelsey!

Thought you might be interested to know that you are related to Tennesse Williams.

Our family through Grandma Essie's side is descendent from John Sevier, the first govenor for Tennesse. Sevier's first wife was Sarah Hawkins, they had 10 children and Tennessee Williams if from that line. John Sevier's second wife was Katherine Sherill, they had 8 children one of which was Joanna Goad Sevier Windle, from which we descend. With John Sevier having 18 children we are probably related to half of Tennessee.

So glad that Glee is back in our lifes!! Oh, how I have missed it. Did everyone watch the ep after the superbowl! I am so over New Directions, give me some Dalton Warblers!! Blaine is amazeballs!! Bills, Bills, Bills made me so happy I almost jumped up off the sofa and sang it with him. I am so in love! Plus, I loved his rendition of Teenage Dream and his Duet with Curt, Baby It's Cold Outside. Love it!!

So basically, to recap, I am just so glad that it is back on!!

Work

Well, Monday at work part of Monday is coming to a close. The phones were quiet today and everyone seemed distracted. Must be a Super Bowl hangover lingering about. I stayed up till 11:00. I simply could not focus today. So annoying. I did manage to get Conner signed up for La Cross. Well, I have to take him tomorrow to be fitted for his uniform. I would like to take him to one of Mick's games if there is one coming up soon. That would be so totes fun. I have never seen a LaCross game. Ohhh I hope I like it. Conner has basket ball practice tonight. And a game on Wednesday. Tiff, when are Ty's games? would love to see him play. Is Abby playing too this year? Okay, ttfn! Love you all! Two Mules for Sister Sarah. Well, it's a western and it's old. Clint is a baby in this and is just developing his trademark swagger. It's funny because Shirley MacLaine has false eyelashes on throughout the entire movie. Well, she's adorable. I love her. It's silly but I have some nostalgia wrapped up in this one. Like True Grit it is a childhood fave. See, I've always liked Cowboys. And Fred Astaire. I adored him as a child. But that is another post entirely.

Broken Trail

Back to the Cowboys. I also watched Broken Trail this weekend. Thomas Hayden Church is amazing in this movie. It's not the very best movie ever ever but it has cowboys, beautiful scenery and well, it's a western. You've probably seen it.

I watched it this weekend. Stevie watched it too. Maybe Kyndrick and Conner did too. Not sure. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen. I want to watch Streetcar named Desire now. Like RIGHT NOW. Tennessee Williams was a man before his time. Elizabeth Taylor and Paul Newman....well, they are amazing. The whole cast is amazing. Burl Ives when he talks about his Dad being a tramp. Mercy me, so much drama.....I want to watch it again and then watch the directors cut. That's all I want to do. And there aren't even any cowboys in it.....There is one scene where they do a close up on Paul Newman's blue eyes. Oh my! And Elizabeth Taylors white party dress? Oh, and her hair! I probably need to post some pics for ya. okay, i will...your welcome.

Just wanted to remind everyone to pray for Helen. She is staying the night at the hopspital tonight. (Riverview) Don't really know what tomorrow will bring. We survived!

We've had a pretty cozy snow/ice day today. Jake did some work from home this morning while I worked on laundry. We ordered a pizza for lunch and watched Avatar with a pretty nice little fire that we've had going for the better part of the day. It was around two o'clock when I realized how happy & content I was. I had absolutely no complaints with my hubby by my side, dogs curled up at my fight, a full belly and a hot fire, not mention a good movie on the tv. It's really nice to have to think about the outside world sometimes and just focus on your family! I guess tomorrow it is back to reality for us as we head back to work but for now I'm going to enjoy my last few relaxing hours with my feet propped up by the fire!
