American Masters

Phillip Glass was featured on American Masters Last Night. He's so smart and creative and interesting.

He just turned 70. He says amazing things like music is an underground river that you can either listen to or ignore, but it's there.
OR
Dancers move but musicians listen.
AND
I think what i found interesting too was the fact that he is a modern day composer just like Beethoven or Bach. They showed him writing and reading music and it's this whole other language. And he can't stop. He is always working it seems. Anyway, I'm sure you've heard his music, it's strange at times. Yet it can be very soothing. He also said He's at times written music so obtuse that he's run the risk of being considered an idiot. His wife is considerably younger than him and very much in love with him and they have two small boys but she cried at one point because he works so much and she is lonely. They were both so honest and open about everything it was really refreshing. He said that his music is not a gift to the world but just something he is compelled to do. Anyway, like I've sid before American Masters is super delicious and I want everyone to pop some corn sit down and watch it! Or anytime FRONTLINE is on you should watch it as well. They make all other documentary style news programs look like childsplay. I'm just sayin'....
