For My Husband's Eighty-Ninth
Dorothy Bridges
For I remember birthdays that we had,
The happy parties that went on and on.....
There is no party here, the birthday boy is gone.
But I shall make a cake, his special kind,
And have the candles ready to be lit.
It matters not that sorrow steals my mind,
My love is strong and makes a go of it.
